"I wish to approach painting with a certain detachment, in which meaning can be gauged through the handling of paint and the open-endedness of the subject matter. I want to distill a certain feeling of unease and ambiguity but at the same time communicate the inner beauty and light of a subject. Inspired by stock images of people from magazines or newspapers and objects like flowers, lights, trees and buildings, I like to transporm them in some way through the use of colour and light rendering them almost ghost-like and inert.
